Goa, located on the western
coast line of India, is one of the
most famous tourist destinations in India. Goa has long been
known for it’s famous beaches, the different flora and fauna,
the hospitality of it’s people and it’s exotic culture.

visited Goa in the year 2004, out of which 400,000 were foreign
nationals.
The are two main seasons which are considered to
be the best seasons to take holidays in Goa, these being the
winter season and the summer season. Around November, the crowd
begins to increase as winter season starts to approach.
European nationals are the most popular visitors during the
winter season. The summer season mainly sees the domestic
nationals spending their holidays here; In Goa, this is the
rainy season.
Where to visit on your holidays to Goa
As the state was ruled for over 450 years by
Portuguese, you are sure to find traces of their masterpieces -
architecture and the culture, throughout the area. Goa has also
earned a separate place in tourism’s destinations by portraying
a different picture too. Goa is famous for its enormous beaches
which are spread across the western coastline. Apart from the
beaches, you can also visit the Bom Jesus Cathedral, Fort
Aguada and the newly built wax museum depicting Indian History,
culture and heritage.
There are many other places where you can spend
a lot of time and the important places that can be visited when
you plan one of your holidays in Goa are: numerous churches and
temples, Noroa River, the Arvalem Waterfall, and the Brahma
Camandolu and of course the many beaches. The Bom Jesus
Basilica holds an important place for Catholics and is also
known as the Patron Saint of Goa. The remains of St. Francis
Xavier are still protected in the Basilica and once every 12
years, the body is displayed for public viewing. The last such
occasion was performed in the year 2004. If you are an avid
lover of architecture and history, you must visit Velhas
Conquitas, which is famous for Portuguese architecture.
For many people, holidays in Goa involve looking
at the fine old buildings. You can still find the old
architecture in and around Goa, which reflects the
Indo-Portuguese styling. Fontainhas, located in Panaji, has
been declared a Heritage headquarters, which depicts the life,
culture and architecture of Goa. The temples situated in Goa
were long back built in the style of the Portuguese. After the
state was part of India, all the temples were demolished and
reconstructed with Indian style. The two main temples you can
visit when you are on tour to Goa are - the Mangueshi Temple
and the Mahalasa temple.
